How to double-dip? Hold a slice of mango, dip in mayonnaise, bite a little then dip again. Repeat until consumed. Dipping more than twice is multiple dipping.
Is double dipping good? Maybe! Maybe you’re a slow eater and a good chewer. Bite a little and chew the food long enough for better digestion. Or, just trying to make the food last longer and consume the sauce faster. True if the sauce tastes excellent.
Commonly observe on street foods such as fish balls, squid balls and kikiam. The vendor fries the balls then the customers get it by piercing with a barbecue stick. Dip in sauce of choice, sweet, sour or sweet and sour. Then eat it like a hot dog.
What was I doing? I was consuming the pierced fish balls and discarding the stick. I was getting another stick for another set if I still want.
Others bad habit. Some are eating a portion. After a while, dip again the remaining. The sauce is draining off, the normal instinct is to dip again for a fresh thick coat. Then get another set using the same stick.
How bad is double dipping?
Double-dipping is like a lips to lips kiss. It is as good as kissing hundreds of pretty women and thousand of guys. Double dip the stick of fish ball and everyone who choose the same sauce will have a taste of your lips. Or, you might have been kissed by someone unknowingly even if you only dipped once.
Double-dipping can be a vector of diseases from very simple to chronic. Common colds, coughs and hepatitis. Toxic microorganisms can also be transferred through it, E coli, Salmonella and Listeria.
How to prevent?
1) Post a signboard,”Dip only Once, No Double-Dipping, Dip Once and Go or Dip Twice and Get a Strong Hard Kick”.
2) Serve foods with separate sauces. It’s the popular style of restaurants and fast foods – each fried chicken has its own sauce in mini cup. Many street vendors are adopting this nowadays.
3) If you’re a customer, then do not buy if the two above rules are not observed.
4) At home? Educate each family members.
