I got an assignment. I need to draw a laboratory layout. I must list all the needed equipment, cabinet, chairs, tables, sinks, water faucets, fume hood, chemicals, glassware and etc… Their estimated prices and the location of specific equipment in the laboratory.
Listing the necessities is easy. Finding their prices is easy too. However, rendering the laboratory layout including the position of equipment is a hard thing for me. I was not blessed with magic hands that are able to draw easily what is on my mind.
Good thing is I got a free version of Google Sketchup, a 3d rendering tool with a very low resource consumption. I guessed this one was made specially to noob guy like me. I managed creating cubes and cylinders in no time. Rendered a floor plan after few minutes. I spent the whole day thinkering with the software and made 3d models of chairs, tables, cabinets, water dispenser, sinks, faucets.
I thought it might be good in rendering packaging materials. Here are some practice models for show.
