Someone asked me to taste a specific food product and write a short reaction. I said no, I was very hungry. It was weird! Rejecting a food in times of empty stomach.
He was giving me some food for evaluation. His intention was not to ease my hunger. He wanted to get some truthful comments and suggestions. I denied cause I might not give accurate information.
Anyone should not evaluate a food when hungry. The thing in our mind when hungry is to eat as soon as possible. The food taste is secondary. Any food that touch our tongue seem yummy. We might judge a bland food as awesome and awesome as one of the best. On the contrary, food tasting should not be done on full stomach. The effect would be the reverse.Tasting session should be done in between meals, when not too full nor too hungry.
Food judging is also affected by other factors. Environmental conditions – eating in a dirty area, drinking hot coffee on hot summer days, and eating ice cream during cold December. Mood – angry, sorrow, depression and happiness. Health and other habits – pregnancy, smoking, cold, fever, cough and age.
